Compounding

The art of preparing medications dates back to the origins of pharmacy.  At Blue Ridge Pharmacy, we still practice the time proven art of compounding.  This is done with modern variations of the “mortar and pestle” to prepare unique and individualized medications.  By working with your physician, compounding allows our pharmacists to customize the strength and dosage form of a medication according to individual needs.  This may include preparing a drug that is no longer commercially available, changing a medication from pill to penetrating skin cream, adding flavors, or preparing a dye-free or preservative-free medication.  The possibilities are endless.  Our pharmacists can formulate almost any kind of medicine and specifically design it just for you, including children’s dosage forms and flavors, capsules and suppositories, hospice formulations, skin preparations, lip balms, medicated lozenges, eye and eardrops, and even inhalation therapies.  Ask us how compounded medications may help you.

Immunizations

Blue Ridge Pharmacy features a private office area for medication counseling and immunization administration.  Flu vaccines are available every fall and Zostavax® (shingles vaccine) is available year round from our team of pharmacists.  We are committed to helping our patients live healthier lives through disease prevention.

Durable Medical Equipment

Blue Ridge Pharmacy offers a selection of walkers, canes, bathroom accessories, and other medical equipment designed to help you get back on your feet while you recover at home.  We also offer a full range of diabetic testing supplies.  With a prescription from your physician, we can bill Medicare or Medicaid to help cover the cost of many of these items.  Equipment that is not kept at our store can be ordered to arrive the next business day.  A Blue Ridge Pharmacy associate is always available for assistance in selecting or ordering these items.
